Job Description:

As a Contract Senior Strategic Experience Designer, you will be joining our team of strategists, researchers and designers to envision and create exceptional experiences. We are seeking a talented, passionate and multifaceted design leader and problem solver who can dive into complicated problem spaces and emerge with simple, elegant solutions. Someone who can communicate ideas to both those unfamiliar with our field as well as with discerning, sometimes skeptical executives. We are looking for someone who can guide projects and teams, be strategic in process and execution, and innovate under imperfect conditions.

These will be contract positions. Candidates who can eventually commute to our office in Boston, MA or Portsmouth, NH preferred, but will also consider remote working arrangements for the right candidate.


  • Design Leadership - leading design efforts to solve challenges for our top tier clients, including leading meetings, design reviews and guiding clients through the overall design process as a trusted advisor.
  • Experience Design Execution - creating flows, information architecture diagrams, and interaction concepts (i.e.: wireframes) for websites, web applications, tablets, and mobile devices
  • Design Research- executing qualitative design research and insight generation, with a focus on acquiring feedback that can directly inform design decisions.
  • Workshops - facilitate design workshops or sprints with our clients in order to gain alignment and develop new solutions.
  • Storytelling - rationalizing and explaining design decisions based on research, best practices, and psychology through storytelling, often with client executives.
  • Collaboration - working with other disciplines such as content strategy, visual design, and development to align output to a project’s strategic experience goals.
  • Project Strategy & Management -provide feedback on new projects plans and activities with the ability to identify which deliverables or activities will deliver the most value.

Experience and Skills


  • 5+ years experience in a User Experience Design or Strategy role
  • Strong strategic thinker - you’re able to home in on client priorities and understand how they influence design decisions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of experience design and usability best practices
  • Familiarity with service design processes and deliverables
  • Awareness of experience design best practices such as, but not limited to, accessibility, performance and usability considerations
  • Appreciation and knowledge of current trends in experience design, including research-inspired design, lean approaches, responsive processes, etc.
  • Independent drive and strong attention to detail of creative standards and client needs
  • Highly collaborative and eager to participate, able to effectively manage your time and deadlines
  • Keen understanding of how to work in a professional services environment that focuses on providing value for clients
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • You absolutely love what you do
  • Big plus:
    • Familiarity and experience with common experience strategy & service design tools and methods, including persona development, narrative storyboarding, ecosystem mapping, experience journey mapping, service blueprinting, value proposition design, and touchpoint concepting via UX flows, screen sketching or mockups, physical & service prototyping, etc.
    • Familiarity with behavioral psychology and key behavior change frameworks
