As our UI Design lead, your role will be dedicated to making the complicated feel simple. In this role, you will leverage deep knowledge of color, typography, and hierarchy to create something elegant, beautiful, and usable for Mad*Pow’s clients. You know beautiful interfaces are just part of the equation and can support your visual skills with a comprehensive understanding of user experience design methodologies such as heuristic evaluations, content/IA analysis, user research tactics, collaborative workshops, and user testing options. You are innovative, curious, and experimental, and you can put it all together to create stunning digital experiences.

We are looking for candidates who can be based out of our Boston, MA or Portsmouth, NH offices, but will consider remote working arrangements for the right candidate. Experience and Skills

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and support senior experience design leadership on large and/or highly complex client engagements while ensuring profitable and high-quality output
  • Partner with other disciplines such as content strategy, experience strategy, behavior change design, and development to align output to a project’s strategic experience goals
  • Design and prototype beautiful, usable interfaces and experience flows for web sites, web applications and mobile devices
  • Rationalize and explain design decisions based on research, best practices, and psychology through storytelling, often with client executives
  • Plan and expertly facilitate design workshops or sprints with our clients to gain alignment and develop new solutions
  • Note: This is an individual contributor role with a focus on project leadership, with potential for growth in the future

What you’ll need:


  • 5+ years' experience with digital design in a professional setting


  • Expert deployment of visual design principles such as typography, color, and layout
  • Experience with creating and/or extending a "visual system" - including brand elements such as colors, typography, layout, and tone - and summarizing in style guides
  • Understanding of responsive/adaptive design principles, including rapid iteration process, style tiles and breakpoints, and how to consider different displays
  • Ability to prototype design ideas for testing or client approval
  • Understanding of digital design best practices such as, but not limited to, accessibility, performance, and usability considerations
  • Skilled at facilitating client meetings and collaborative working sessions
  • Independent drive with strong attention to detail of creative standards and client needs
  • Highly collaborative and eager to participate
  • Ability to effectively manage your time and competing deadlines
  • Experience working in a professional services environment that focuses on providing value for clients
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Big plus: native app design experience

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in the following tools:
    • Figma
    • Sketch Adobe XD
    • Mural
    • InVision
